I was born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi. I was a stellar student throughout grammar school and graduated from high school with honors with a 3.96 grade point average. I continued my studies at Hampton University, University of West Georgia, and University of Iowa. From those academics endeavors, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Public Health with an emphasis on Occupational and Environmental Health and a Master of Arts in Health Education. I am currently pursuing my Master's of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Informatics as well as a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a concentration in leadership.
I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and a strong advocate for education. This passion for academic excellence has kept me actively engaged within the teaching/tutoring arena. I find it personally rewarding when students grasp new concepts and have an “ah-ha” moment. I do my ernest to bridge the gap between athletics and academics within the Georgia Tarheel organization. I will offer academic assistance to student-athletes in the fields of science and English (writing comprehension). I will also conduct monthly SAT/ACT preparation sessions. It is my wish to ensure that the student-athletes are just as successful in the classroom as they are on the court.
In an effort to ensure superior athletic and academic performance, I will also offer sport-centered nutritional counseling. I value health and welcome the opportunity to share my health expertise. I beleive in the concept that healthy behaviors learned as children will carry into adulthood; therefore, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I joined the organization in August 2011 and will make my academic and health debut in January 2012.
